Description Of Narrative Writing
When you are asked to write a short story, or asked to do some "creative writing", you are doing what is called "Narrative Writing." Narrative writing is meant to entertain! Part of being human is getting to tell great stories!
Often, the word narrative is synonymous with story.  A narrative is the story (fiction or non-fiction) told and the order in which it is told.   Sometimes, there is a narrator, a character or series of characters, who tell the story. Sometimes, as with most non-fiction,  the author himself/herself in the narrator.  Narrative writing is very important in your day-to-day life.  For the rest of your life, you will write texts, e-mails, cover letters, blogs, etc. about  your beliefs,  your ambitions, information you know, and feelings you have.  What could be more important?
Narrative writing in fiction and non-fiction (and even poetry) tells others the stories of our personal experiences and allows us to gain empathy and sympathy about the world around us.
Narrative writing is a style of writing in which a story is told from a particular point of view.
How To Differ From Other Writing Genres.
Writing Genres
As students prepare to write, they need to think about the purpose of their writing: Are they writing to entertain? to inform? to persuade? Setting the purpose for writing is just as important as setting the purpose for reading, because purpose influences decisions students make about form.
One of the most important considerations is the genre or form the writing will take: a story? a letter? a poem? an essay? A writing activity could be handled in any one of these ways. Students learn to use a variety of writing genres; six are described in the table below. Through reading and writing, students become knowledgeable about these genres and how they’re structured (Donovan & Smolkin, 2002). Langer (1985) found that by third grade, students respond in distinctly different ways to story- and report-writing assignments; they organize the writing differently and include varied kinds of information and elaboration. Because students are learning the distinctions between various genres, it’s important that teachers use the correct terminology and not label all writing as “stories.”

All the paragraph absolutely the general step is use topic sentence, supporting sentence, concluding sentence. But for narrative writing or other genres have specific step.
Step To Narrative Writing:
1.      Show up or introduction the participants and informing the time and the place. It also introduce some characters involved in this genre. It’s mean that orientation
Example : Once, three fishes lived in a pond. One evening, some fishermen passed by the pond and saw the fishes. 'This pond is full of fish', they told each other excitedly. 'We have never fished here before. We must come back tomorrow morning with our nets and catch these fish!' Then the fishermen left.
2.      Describing the rising crises which the participants have to do with or among participants relationship in a process of social interaction. It’s mean that complication
Example : When the eldest of the three fishes heard this, he was troubled. He called the other fishes together and said, 'Did you hear what the fishermen said? We must leave this pond at once. The fishermen will return tomorrow and kill us all!' The second of the three fishes agreed. 'You are right', he said. 'We must leave the pond.'  But the youngest fish laughed. 'You are worrying without reason', he said. 'We have lived in this pond all our lives, and no fisherman has ever come here. Why should these men return? I am not going anywhere - my luck will keep me safe.'
3.      Showing the way of participants to solve the crises, better or worse. The end can be open ended or close ended. It’s mean that resolution
Example : The eldest of the fishes left the pond that very evening with his entire family. The second fish saw the fishermen coming in the distance early next morning and left the pond at once with all his family. The third fish refused to leave even then. The eldest of the fishes left the pond that very evening with his entire family. The second fish saw the fishermen coming in the distance early next morning and left the pond at once with all his family. The third fish refused to leave even then. The fishermen arrived and caught all the fish left in the pond. The third fish's luck did not help him - he too was caught and killed. The fish who saw trouble ahead and acted before it arrived as well as the fish who acted as soon as it came both survived. But the fish who relied only on luck and did nothing at all died. So also in life.
4.      coda    ( if there is coda or moral massage in the text )
